Interesting article I'm hoping 1080 will be much better than the Ti on performance but based on article possibly not looks like just to replace the 980? Hmmm I wonder when a Ti version will release for these...

Thanks for the link Dustin. I've been following the 1080 sort of closely, but at this point I see zero reason to go from my sli 980tis to the 1080. In fact, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the 1080 winds up not even being as good as the 980ti. I think we'll have to wait until the 1080ti to see any kind of improvement.

I always thought it was total BS how some people were parroting the hype that one 1080 was going to be able to run 1440p and 4k better than sli 980tis or whatever.

No way Jose.

Based on that article sounds like the 980Ti will still be little stronger in performance. I'm waiting to see benchmarks too see which route to go for GPU upgrade.

I found this rather interesting
PC Gamer Review

excerpt that may be of interest for the high end users of the group

"If you're already running a high-end SLI or CrossFire setup, a single GTX 1080 may not be enough to cause you to jump ship, but for users looking to get dual-GPU levels of performance without the hassle, this is a seriously tempting offer. Or if you're the sort of person that always has to have the best graphics setup possible, well, now you can start thinking about buying a pair of 1080 cards."

EDIT:
Here is a compiling of the various reviews and benchmark tests from around the web
Compilation List

What I am really excited about is the new multi-monitor options. There are several "default" setups that you can select that will correct the image perspective to make a seamless picture. Since my screens are all turned slightly this will make the perspective make sense.

I totally forgot to link the Reddit thread yesterday after reading over it.

I think I remember reading from one of the third parties that it is only ~32% faster than a 980Ti

I'll probably get a 1080 by the time BF1 comes out because I'm currently running an R9 380 and while I have no issues with it, I'm sure it won't run BF1 like I want it to.

Interesting, thanks for the links everyone. From what I've seen thus far in the reviews, the tech is pretty damned good but still not "4k @60fps good with one card". These cards look like a fantastic upgrade for those in the 7xx series and lower, but I think I'll keep my 980tis until at least the 1080ti comes out. I don't see much of any reason for someone to upgrade their 980/980tis for these. Hell, even sli 970s are still going to be good for quite some time I think.

Unless you're on 4k, everything out right now just creams 1080 and 1440 really.

Wow that looks like a very sexy card...Yea I said it. I've had EVGA from 580-590s-680s-980. Wait for the chaos to chill to see how these are though.

Thanks Dustin, I don't think I'll be going 4K for a couple years until they come up with better monitors and higher refresh rates. I also doubt that single card is getting 90fps at 4k on Ultra in BF4. Besides I don't really care about Ultra, res scaling is where it's at so unless he's running at like 140% res scale, I'm not interested.

It certainly seems like a kickass card, but just not a worthwhile upgrade over 980ti in SLI. If I were to buy one, I'd wait several months for more models to come out etc. I still think the best deal by far is going to be in a month or two when 980ti prices crater and you can pick them up for $300 or less.

I'm very surprised I haven't seen price collapse of the 980tis yet already. It must have something to do with the lack of availability of the 1080s right now.

That's exactly what I am waiting for, 980's price to drop.

Oh I thought you were at 4k already with that new monitor you recently got? Yea I'm not sure what gonna do yet just kinda waiting to see more benchmarks for some of the other cards to see how they perform. Since I got new 1440p monitor I need more juice because my 980SC was perfect for 1080p but she struggles at 1440p. It really seems with any newer card it's always that 20-30% better than the last it. And yea seems peeps are still wanting value out of there 980ti cause they have not dropped at all on eBay or even like EVGA forums to buy and sell area.

No, I have an Acer X34 Predator which is at 3440x1440.  At 150% res scaling, it looks better than 4k anyway.  There's no point for me to go to 4K until better monitors come out.  The 980ti crushes 1440 due to the 6GB on board, it's a pretty big upgrade from the regular 980.

The 980ti is still way more power than any game really needs right now (sub 4K), and if you sli a pair it's waaaaaay overkill. I think the 1080 is more for virtual reality and all that jazz, all of which I have zero interest in.

Hmm that's good insight I appreciate it. Gonna see what some prices TIs drop down once influx of 1080s hit in mid to end June. I don't think I will SLI again though. I did several times in past but before my 980 I had TRi sli 680s cause surround gaming on 3 144hz Asus VG248QE I panels after started having huge issues with stuttering out nowhere. I even pulled one card still did it with just 2 in sli and I flipped and flopped every card and even ran every one single to see if a card was messing up but they were all fine. One thing with Pascal which is Is pretty cool is they can now fix surround stretch on your side screens so they don't stretch out which with surround has always been issue. So that is another reason leaning towards Pascal I still use those 3 panels to play mainly racing games but no rush for me right now just gonna and wait and see how plays out. #FirstWorldProblems

Sure have a good night
LBCdirtyD 11:23 PM
thanks for letting me know
TwinGunsLLP 11:20 PM
Yeah 1080ti since the day it came out, great card.
LBCdirtyD 11:18 PM
Wow. That sucks so you just rocking single GPU then these days huh
TwinGunsLLP 11:15 PM
It's more a recent thing, the 10xx series seemed to want to kill it off.
LBCdirtyD 11:14 PM
Did they recently just start kiling off SLI i had no issues back in day when BF4 came out with my SLI 680FTWs it was mega diff in FPS then
TwinGunsLLP 11:14 PM
Yep. SLI is only good for benchmarking and putting up big numbers. For actual game play, the microstutter is terrible and I even have GSYNC monitor.
LBCdirtyD 11:13 PM
If the performancce was major good keep it in SLI now doubt I will even do that just keep the FE in there I dont use it all the time anyway.
TwinGunsLLP 11:13 PM
Ahh, yeah I wouldn't bother. Believe I love the idea of multiple GPUs, but it just doesn't work well.
LBCdirtyD 11:12 PM
My driving sim has 1080Ti Founders Edition in mid size case I hate how much heat it pumps out and was gonna sell it get the new FTW3 and use in SLI till sold the FE one.
LBCdirtyD 11:11 PM
Dang that is sad to hear actually. I was going to pick up another 1080Ti FTW and sell my 1080Ti from my Driving sim PC I hate how much heat it dumps and SLI for minute till I sold it.
TwinGunsLLP 11:11 PM
I think Doom is another game where only one card is working.
TwinGunsLLP 11:10 PM
Also keep in mind, sli doesn't work in all games (Just Cause 3 for example). So on a lot of games, only one card will be working anyway.
TwinGunsLLP 11:10 PM
It's been getting progressively worse with each new generation of cards, I was really bummed out with how bad it was with the 10xx series.
LBCdirtyD 11:08 PM
I had no idea damn that sucks actually
LBCdirtyD 11:08 PM
oh wow when did they kill it off recently?
TwinGunsLLP 11:02 PM
The micro stutter is very obvious, even with the HB bridge. Sli is essentially dead, I recommend one card and one card only unless things change dramatically.
TwinGunsLLP 11:01 PM
No sir! Do NOT sli that 1080ti, it's a complete waste of money and the stuttering is trash. Believe me on that, don't waste your time/money on 1080ti sli!
LBCdirtyD 10:57 PM
Twins since new cards are waste sounds like. Is SLI still worth doing? Last time I did was 680FTW and currently have 1080Ti FTW3 and thinking SLI? I know you always SLI
TwinGunsLLP 2:14 PM
I wanted to spend the money as I love the newest stuff and I haven't upgraded in forever (for me at least), but this is just waste of money. Nothing more.
