Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new tablet. My current one is extremely slow and doesn't charge unless I turn it off. So I would like some recommendations from more tablet savy guys

What OS, Screen Size?

I got plenty of tablets that I'd part with for postage paid.

The OS doesn't matter too much as long as it isn't something ancient. I want to be able to surf the web, watch Netflix, etc.

I currently own a Droid Turbo so something bigger will be great.

...

What OS are those tablets running? They all sound Chinese and I'm very wary of buying tablets from Chinese vendors.

I just thought about the OS and I'd like at least 5.0 Lollipop. I'm running 4.4 on my tablet and I absolutely hate it.

disclaimer*
i don't really like to use laptops/tablets as they genuinely give me shoulder/neck pain after prolonged use, so i just stick to my desktop.
as for those tablets i think they are mainly windows and androids but some of them you can dual boot.
but they are risky and after spending a bit of time searching the only one i like is this -
http://www.bestchinatable ... let-pc-or-ultrabook/
it's a win10 64bit but you can also install android (voids the warranty).

edit
after a bit more digging around i reading this review i found out it comes with optional extras, namely a KMS activation tool called OEM8.exe that was used to hack the win10 activation. This is something the seller on AliExpress where I go this tablet has done to the tablet. They maganged to upgrade Windows 10 Chinese only to Windows 10 Pro and install English for me, but they also hacked the activation. Later I also discovered a virus hao123.com creating shortcuts on my desktop to this spammy looking site and changing my browser homepages to hao123.com. This was problerly installed with the OEM8 activation hack.

derp can be avoided if you do a fresh install and have a valid windows key, but probably best avoided all together.

I currently use a Samsung Galaxy tab 4. I use it for netflix, social media, and reading ebooks.

I liked the cost and the screen size. Big enough to see without real issue but small enough that it can fit in my briefcase without any issues.

What OS does your Tab 4 run? I have a Tab 2 and I was very unhappy about how slow it got over time.

It has KitKat on it right now. It's not as fast as the new Tab S but it costs quite a bit less which was worth it to me. Everything is faster than my phone which is a Galaxy S3 so my view on it may be skewed a bit.

Overall I am easy to please when it comes to tablets. It runs netflix, email, hearthstone, etc... quite well so I am happy with it.

I'd love a Surface Pro too but I don't think I can excuse dropping $800 on a tablet.

I was just on the MS store and they got the Surface Pro 3 on special. You can save $200. I am really debating whether I should get one for $600....

The Surface Pros are pretty cool but they have some really odd and infuriating bugs. I work in IT for a large corporation and we gave our sales team surface pros and it has been a virtual nightmare ever since.
Some of them cannot read micro sd cards, some of them just drop all known networks, some decide they no longer like an attached keyboard, some have had their internal battery die within 3 months.

I really like the idea of the Surface but it's just too buggy for me right now to justify spending $500+

If you don't like the android O/S you're running, try a ROM from CyanogenMod. I currently run sultan's custom CM12.1 (based on lollipop) on my OPO and it's super fast, lightweight and very customizable. There are PLENTY of others besides CM, as well. http://forum.xda-develope ... rs.com is where you'll find most of them.

I'm getting a Tab S 10.5 soon because my old iPad 2 is worthless now thanks to apple. Can't even surf the web with it.

Do they walk you through how to root your tablet and stuff?

Yup. The only complicated part is unlocking the bootloader (if it's not already unlocked). The rest is easy; if you have TWRP installed as your recovery (app store), it'll automatically install SuperSU (root) with just a swipe after you install whatever ROM you want. You can create backups of your data/apps/cache, install a new ROM, try it out, and if you don't like it, re-install your old stuff and it's like it never happened.

TwinGunsLLP 21st Feb
And it has the ///M4 in it so I had to get it lol.
TwinGunsLLP 21st Feb
NOS? You mean NFS? Yes at the start it did, but all has been fixed now. I purposely waited until they fixed that BS before I bought it. It's a really, really fun arcade racer and the graphics are pretty dope.
Angry_Cuban13 21st Feb
might pick up NOS. didn't it have a weird loot boxes system?
TwinGunsLLP 21st Feb
If you've been waiting on Star Wars too, the elite edition is only $31.99 now with the sale.
TwinGunsLLP 21st Feb
Origin has 60% off deal today for many games. Any arcade racing fans, I recommend Need for Speed Payback. Pretty fun!
Angry_Cuban13 21st Feb
So competitive that their server is sitting super empty.

I too would love to have 60hz and also be stable, if you have any insight into that please let me know.
