Crypto Currency's and mining

I've had a few people ask me about mining cryptocurrency using their gaming PC while it's idle. Rather then show each person 1 at a time I'll try to lay it all out here as simple as possible. The easiest and most profitable way to get started is using nicehash. Their program will benchmark your hardware and determine the most profitable currency to mine at that time and automatically start mining! super simple. Once it gets going it'll check from time to time to see if another currency would be more profitable and if so it'll automatically switch to mining that with no user interaction. Below I'll try to list the steps below without leaving anything out.

  1. Go to  NiceHash and create an account.
  2. Go to "For Sellers" and look for and download their software, there are 2 versions, 1 for nvidia and the other for AMD, pick appropriately
  3.  open the exe and select your closest "service location", on nicehash's website go to your dashboard and grab your "YOUR BTC MINING AND DEPOSIT ADDRESS" and paste that long string of numbers below that into the nicehash miner application where it says "Bitcoin address" (Make sure you get this right as this is the account they credit for any of the mining you do!)
  4. Click on "Benchmark" (will take a while) once that is finished all you have to do is click "start" on the main interface.

If your computer spends time at idle you may as well see how much you can profit from putting it to work and with today's crypto market, if you hold your BTC you could see huge gains! If you have any questions feel free to ask here or if you see me in TS and I'll do my best to help.

Make sure you monitor your thermals to ensure you don't overheat your system. I am not responsible for any hardware issues or damage that may occur, proceed at your own risk.

Can I ban you if you make more crypto than me?

How can I send Steve-Style DDOS packages to your crypto mine?

Thanks, it's good info but nobody should expect to get rich off this thing (you need a ton of equipment to even make a decent return). For instance, my i7 6700k with SLI GTX 1080tis would only earn about $3.15 a day. That's barely over $1k a year (keep in mind two 1080tis would run you about $1500 right now!), it eats a ton of power, and basically turns your computer into a sloth while it's mining. This is also assuming you're letting it run 24/7, 365 days a year. I looked into this a few months back and just decided against it.

If you want to get rich, it's quite simple. Go back to 2010, and put every cent you have or can make into bitcoin AND mine it. Then the hardest decision you'll have to make is whether to drive the LaFerrari or the Huayra that day. ;P

I've done really well on Bitcoin, but the massive percentage gains are over I have to think. People expecting to make 2000-3000% per year are in for a very rude awakening. The genie is out of the bottle, and more and more people know about it now. I'm still down on Ether, I'm a bag holder on that shit at around $325 a coin. I've never bought Litecoin but I'm keeping an eye on it right now. If it drops to the $50 handle, I'm going to buy a significant (at least for me lol) amount.

Twins, I totally agree, this isn't a get rich scheme! It's more of a bet on the long-term. That $3/day you can make with your SLI 1080TIs this year could be $6/day next year if BTC doubles, could also be $1.50/day if it halves, but it's fun none the less and I think BTC is headed to at least 10-15K before 2019 which would be about double on the high end and after the trends that BTC has been setting, it's very realistic goal. This is just for anyone that is curious and wants to see what the computer could make passively while they are sleeping or working and not using it.

BTW. I have 1 R9 380 and I'm making about $1.20-1.80/day and my card never goes above 60C

Have you calculated that GPU running at 900 watts (max, yes i have seen online)  and your cost for electricity per hour? Thats just the GPU, not the rest of the system.

In the USA south could be $80 a month if running just the GPU 24 x7. Your mining may be a money loser or break even at best. Good luck

Didn't get me either. However, anybody who stayed with Parity after their initial huge screwup....well.

Absolutly, too bad thats a drive. But worth it

Long enough to go to the gym though.

Having a 2 hour break between classes kinda blows. Too short to go home, too long to stay entertained.

Also, the PVP aspect of it is really fun. It is comparable to Quake and Unreal Tournament.

If we keep growing we are planning on adding fireteam channels under the Destiny 2 channel so it isn't so crazy in the main channel.
